Mike makes his chairs using the same old mountain style as his
grandfather, with steam bent backs and seats. The chairs are made
with the split, inner bark of hickory trees. Vintage hand tools
are used. Draw knives, spoke shaves, hollow augers, hand drills,
hand saws, are the primary hand tools used. Power tools are also
used (Poppy would have used them too, if he had them back then.)
The slats are fastened with wooden pegs and the traditional "green
wood" technique insures a tight, well-fitted construction.
Mike proudly offers a lifetime guarantee on any chair he builds.
